I brought my 12 year old niece in the afternoon which was a great experience. I would probably never bring children at night just because of the alcohol.
Could use some adjustment on wait time. The food was tasty. Need to review food handling by staff and cleanest of the facility.
Yes! Open from 9AM TO 12AM
Yes
Hi Bobbie. So, yes it was a dream?... Or yes it moved?
No they are $6 each.
No, you're thinking of Jimmy John's
Best Reuben ever. Great beers on tap. Even a beer with a great cause.
RIP John. My friends and I had some GREAT times at your spot. Best jukebox in Detroit! I always hated if I came in and you weren't there. Your conversation, sarcasm, and humor always made the night better. Thank you for being "Pure & Real Detroit."
The food is amazing, the portions are large and the prices are cheap!
Great food, good price. Cool bathroom.
This is a nice informal place to eat. They have a outside garden where you can eat and enjoy the outdoors. They cook their chicken too fast. So, if you have chicken, get the tenders. Their coffee is good. We had the chicken and waffles. Wish we’d had the tenders instead. The chicken was drums and flats, not whole wings.
Unassuming dive bar with fantastic bar food and great service. The only thing I could ask for is maybe a bathroom that doesn't give me seizures when I visit! Honest John's has affordable drinks and upper-tier bar food. Our group enjoyed the club, rueben, and adult grilled cheese. If ever I'm in Detroit and near the area, I'll be back.
Amazing place. Bartender Jameson went above and beyond to give us a drink we would really like despite the extra effort in a busy Saturday morning. Brunch was fantastic, server Allison very attentive and sweet, food was amazing as well. 10/10 would go again. Thank you!!!
Comfortable place with great food. I tried the impossible burger here and it was amazing. The decor and atmosphere is casual and comfortable
Their togo waiter (bartender?) On July 4th was amazing. We got there early for some mimosas and breakfast after a morning walk. The expanded patio is greatly distanced, and gives a nice sense of space. It operates like a beer garden, where all food is "to go" but if you want to eat outside you're more than welcome. And usually you have to claim your food after 10 or so minutes, but the breakfast tender was very courteous and brought out our food, wearing proper PPE no less! Very well made breakfast and dinners, and of course, strong drinks. :)
Black bean burger excellent! Nice old town feel inside with wooden booths and a beautiful bar. Good service, could use an update for bathrooms but still ok.
Cool atmosphere! When I first walked in I thought I was in an episode of Cheers. It is a bar that serves food. The interior Decor looks like the day after New Year's Eve celebration and they were too hungover to take down the lights. This is definitely a "locals" spot. A good place for tourist to go to get a feel of Detroit. It was busy the morning I came. My group was lucky to get tables together. Service wasn't super fast but it was friendly. The food is good. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles and was very satisfied. Everyone was happy with their order. The Fruity Pebble French toast was a table favorite. Highly recommend this place. I need to come back with my wife for a lunch date. PS..FOR THE SINGLE LADIES, THIS IS A FIREFIGHTER HANGOUT!
Such a fun little spot, plus they serve breakfast all the time, and who doesn’t love that!?I would definitely go back for more fruity pebble French toast! Side note: the bathroom was a little too ‘grunge’ compared to the rest of the place.
Great place. The staff is always awesome and and they have really good food
Usually come here for brunch. Fast service, very nice staff. Food is good.
They are really nice but the chicken Caesar wrap was too small for nearly $10. I thought I was given the wrong order until another customer told me that their portions are small but the food is good.
Got breakfast and it was wonderful. Their classic American breakfast : The Special was delicious. Would come back again. Good vibes, good music, good ambience. Also loved the fact that they are open early and close very late, so that’s great!
The wife, son and I came here for an early lunch after a St. Jude walk. This place was recommended by a couple friends that were with us at the walk so we drove a few minutes and stopped in for lunch. Prepare yourself for a moderate wait in a cramped setting, but the food was prepared very well and was tasty! Although nearly every seat was taken, service was relatively quick. I don't think that Honest John's is ever not busy considering they were full before noon struck! Don't hesitate and give them a try!
"Wow, this place has a good burger" that's what my buddy said after we dined here late one night. I was surprised they were still serving food. The service was friendly, portions were generous, prices were fair and parking was easy. Makes sense that it looked like it was full of regulars. You could call it a sports bar with out the sports, I call it an upscale dive (no shade). Go here, the food/drinks are crafted with care.
Great food. Every better prices and service. Saturdays and Sundays are wicked busy. Come early or after 3pm to decrease your wait time! Enjoy!
solid food, nice variety of beers and drinks, great staff, great vibe, dope patio, not pricey
Amazing Reuben & Sweet Potato fries! Check out the BBQ Cheese Burger & the local craft beer too! Service was excellent & friendly! Visiting from Clearwater Florida for The World's Largest Food Truck Rally with Renegade Burger Co, Untamed Events, Shop Local For Good & Generation Entertainment Florida!
The greeter wasn't all that pleasant to other guests but perhaps it was because she was distracted by her phone. The food was tasty and the bartender was attentive.
Make no assumptions about walking into this mid town establishment. It's as new age and funky as I could imagine - no pretences but authentically new wave. It's a diner, it's a bar, it's a hang out and yes, pretty sure there were people drinking at 10 am on a Thursday. So what. Service and food were good and the pace of meal excellent. The breakfast special is both affordable and offers a healthy portion. The French toast was also excellent. Totally worth a trip back!
Real plates but plastic silverware. Smdh. Food still good
Great service. We share the fruity pebbles french toast and Butterfinger pancakes. French toast wasn't bad just wasn't something we would order again. The pancakes were great.
The food was GREAT, I had the fruity pebble French Toast and the chicken wings. The frozen mimosa was excellent. Friendly, efficient staff. Highly recommend if you're in Detroit, MI.
The service was fast, and the food was amazing. I was completely floored by how delicious the pancakes were (even the butter was to die for!) The orange juice was also really fresh. What really impressed me was how attentive the host was while we were waiting. Every now and then, he would personally check in and update you with your party's wait time. Really made you feel like a valuable customer, even before sitting down ^___^
French toast was over cooked, Omelet insides was on the plate not in the omelet had to reorder hash browns too hard. Staff was nice though.
I've been going there for years since it was near Belle Isle the bed races The Bunny roasts you name it the new location is great they serve food to 2 a.m. great vegetarian selections wonderful welcoming wait staff especially Richard! I had the Greek omelette last Nite outstanding
Nice atmosphere. The waitress was pretty pleasant. Loved the Fruity Pebble French Toast!! (See picture below)
Great Atmosphere. Mostly because the food was good. I liked the old high school type style bathrooms. Price is Right. I had not heard of this place but it's worth stopping by for a great meal. There is a bar in the Restaurant.
Decent sandwiches and breakfast items in a good bar that has added a patio.
Nice to sit outside. I had the impossible burger and the prices were decent. Wish they had more vegan options though. Overall good service and good safety protocols.
I enjoy the service and staff, very prompt and sweet, server was extremely nice and thoughtful, my best friend suggested here to further celebrate my birthday and glad that we were able to come. Prices were reasonable and I highly adored the rum drinks that were created. Highly recommend, atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming.
We tried the place for a large group lunch. The atmosphere is a bit "greasy spoon" but nicer. The waitress was working at keeping things flowing and drinks filled, no complaints on that end. I had the chicken and waffles, which will happen again, if we ever revisit. The other things that were ordered by the group included sandwiches, burgers, and nachos. The Rubin looked good and had a good portion of meat. The nachos were absolutely horrible due to the chips being so stale that it looked like the person was tearing into a piece of beef jerky. Back to the chicken and waffle. The waffle was an average waffle but the chicken was cooked very well and tasted good. Definitely worth a try. My bill with a water was ~$11.
Best damn breakfast I've had in America. Generous portions. Great flavors. Affordable. Eclectic atmosphere. Friendly servers. Seriously, really great breakfast.
First time there and really good food. Will be back.
